There is no rule requiring you to organize an entire evening around Charlotte sports.
This is useful, because Tuesday gives you choices. Charlotte FC is home. The Charlotte Knights are beginning a 12-game road trip. Two NASCAR winners are still explaining how Iowa changed their seasons.
Here is what matters, without pretending everyone has unlimited screens or patience.
Charlotte FC has the cleanest record in town
Charlotte FC hosts CF Pachuca at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bank of America Stadium. Apple TV has the stream if a trip into Charlotte is not happening.
Charlotte has played two Leagues Cup matches, scored five goals and allowed none. It beat Pumas UNAM 3-0, then beat Atlas FC 2-0. Six points, five goals and two clean sheets is the sort of tournament math nobody needs help understanding.
The format gets less friendly from there. Charlotte's third and final Phase One match is against Pachuca, and the top four MLS clubs advance from the league table. A normal group apparently lacked sufficient administrative mystery.
The important part is simpler: Charlotte has done everything right so far. Tuesday is its last chance to improve its position before the knockout field is set.

The Knights lost their favorite opponent
The Charlotte Knights are 62-52 overall. They also went 14-4 against the Durham Bulls.
Take Durham away, and Charlotte is 48-48 against everybody else.
Those wins count. Nobody is asking the Knights to return them. Still, Durham supplied the entire 10-game difference between Charlotte and .500, which feels like relevant information now that Durham has disappeared from the schedule.
The Knights begin six games at Rochester on Tuesday, followed by six more at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The opener against the Rochester Red Wings starts at 6:45 p.m.
Charlotte's next assignment is to prove Durham was an especially pleasant matchup, not the whole business model.

Iowa was kind to people with good timing
Ty Gibbs won Sunday's Cup race at Iowa Speedway after his Joe Gibbs Racing team changed only two tires on the final green-flag stop. The call moved Gibbs ahead of Christopher Bell. Gibbs then kept him there for 20 laps and won by 0.253 seconds.
That was Gibbs' second victory of the season. He left Iowa second in points, one year after leaving the same track 16th.

Carson Kvapil led nine laps on Saturday. They happened to be the final nine, which is excellent scheduling.
Kvapil passed Ross Chastain after Chastain spun his tires on an overtime restart and beat Rajah Caruth by 0.343 seconds. After 63 starts without a victory, Kvapil has won two in a row.
